Insight from over 20 years of building lists for students as Director of College Counseling at premier independent schools around the US and abroad, and as an independent consultant.

I have worked with just about every student interest and special circumstance. I’ve counseled dancers, engineers, recruited athletes, students who learn differently, artists, future physicians, writers, economists, musicians, coders, theater technicians and more.

My simplified “Quick and Dirty College List Builder” is used as a core resource by many independent counselors, and as a text in the University of California college counseling certificate program.

I've visited over 200 campuses around the world, and I am in frequent communication with decision-makers at colleges everywhere, as well as within a network of counselors with similar backgrounds to mine.

In making lists, I have access to research resources, online tools and databases, and I filter it all through my knowledge of what might be a good fit for the student, based on experience.

An online questionnaire to learn more about academic history, activities, and interests.

A 1-hour introductory meeting and interview (Scheduled at your convenience.)

An online survey to identify preferences.

Delivery of a list of at least 20 recommended colleges to research at varying levels of selectivity, but with a focus on “targets," where admission is possible but not guaranteed. (Merit scholarship potential can be a requested factor.)

A guide to researching effectively.

In August, I'll deliver a third-party data analysis of the probability of the student's list in progress that predicts likelihoods based on last year's applications, indicates whether or not to choose Test Optional application, suggests timelines for applying, and estimates financial aid potential.

A 1-hour final call to talk through the list and application strategy.
